Opera Tour - Itinerary Details
We have customized our opera tour to give you performances in Verona and Milan's famous la Scala opera house, plus time to visit in Italy's most unique city - Venice!
DAY 1: Milan
Arrive at your Milan hotel, then after check in, we suggest a walk to the nearby Piazza del Duomo to acquaint yourself with the Cathedral and the adjacent Galleria, considered the "Living Room of Milan". Afterwards suggestions for a relaxing dinner nearby in the city center.
DAY 2: Milan - La Scala
Breakfast, then a guided city tour to include the Duomo, la Scala museum, and the Sforza Castello, the primary residence of the namesake family who ruled Milan in the middle ages. Afterwards, you're free for an afternoon in the most visited city in Italy. For those interested, an possible option to view the famed Last Supper or suggestions will be given on where to see the high fashions shops of Gucci, Prada, or Louis Vuitton, or other more 'local' shopping options. The balance of the evening is at your leisure. (B)
DAY 3: Verona
Breakfast, then check out and depart to Verona for the beginning of three days in one of the most beautiful cities in northern Italy. After arrival and hotel check in, you'll be escorted on a tour to discover the Roman and historical architectural aspects of the city, including the story and setting for Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's most romantic couple. Later time for yourself and to prepare for dinner at your leisure. (B)
DAY 4: Verona and Opera
Hotel Breakfast, then off to enjoy the morning with suggestions for taking in many of Verona's historical churches including San Fermo and Sant Anastasia. For a complete ariel view of the city and its surroundings, take the elevator up Torre (tower) dei Lamberti, and for another city view, the ancient Roman theater and archeological museum across the river Adige. The afternoon is free for you to stroll through the city at your leisure. Later time to prepare for the first of your evening opera performances. Before the performance, suggestions for dinner at a favorite restaurant near the arena. (B)
DAY 5: Verona and Opera
Breakfast as usual, then a free day to take in more of Verona's historical setting. One of the remaining suggested sites, is Castelvecchio; the fortress, now museum, used by the Scaligeri family that ruled Verona for much of the middle ages. Later your second night of opera. (B)
DAY 6: Venice
Breakfast then check out leaving Verona and on to the mystery and romance of Venice. After arrival you will board your private water-taxi and check in to your hotel, afterwards a walking-city tour with your private guide. The balance of the afternoon/evening is available to you to shop or simply stroll the romantic streets of Venezia. (B)
DAY 7: Venice
Hotel breakfast, then the day is yours to plan - optional tours are available to Murano, the island of the glass makers, or take a Grand Canal tour by private boat. Otherwise, the balance of the afternoon and evening at your leisure, shopping, strolling museums or whatever else this beautiful city can offer to excite your senses. The evenings entertainment can also be provided by musical performances presented at several unique city locations. (B)
DAY 8: Venice
Hotel breakfast followed by a day of sightseeing on your own. Several options or activities can be suggested for you. (B)
DAY 9: Departure
Breakfast and check out on this the final day for your itinerary. A personal water-taxi will take you to the train station or on to the Venice airport as your travel needs dictate. (B)
Please note the above daily descriptions are given as a basis for your itinerary; it is not necessary to include all aspects; prices will vary according to your choice of tour activities and options; the sequence and Verona opera performances will change according to your tour dates. Also to accommodate both la Scala and Verona Opera performances it may be necessary to modify the number of days in each city, Milan, Verona and or Venice (or Tuscany). Please consult with us when making your reservation.
Base price includes arrival and departure transfers, private transfers between cities, hotels for 8 nights, daily hotel breakfast, 3 city tours, 2 opera performances in Verona (a 3rd can be added). Not included, airfare and or La Scala opera tickets or tickets for the Puccini Festival (additional purchase).
